started a new school in Ontario. Even though I am an experienced educator with training in China, my first inspection was stressful. Michael made us feel comfortable during the inspection. While there were a number of items we needed to revise, he gave us advice and resources that guided us through the process. Now that Michael has retired from the Ministry, I look forward to working with him in his new role. He is always available to answer our questions. We are going to continue working with him as we expand our school to include international students overseas.

hen I was a principal of a First Nations high school, I looked forward to my annual Ministry of Education visit/inspection from Michael Rethazi. He was thorough during his inspection and provided recommendations that showed insight and professional knowledge.  Education becomes life-long learning when it is presented within the context of a community, its culture and its values. Now that I serve as Director of a school board for First Nations communities. I look forward to opportunities to collaborate with Michael with our school Principals and the First Nation communities. 

I called on Michael immediately when I heard that he retired from his ministry position. As a school owner, I looked to him to provide guidance and direction for my newly appointed principal. The time Michael spent with us allowed the principal to gain more confidence and become more knowledgable about his duties. Our most recent inspection went well and I feel that there is a sustainable change in the way our teachers are now trained and supervised. Michael has also been an excellent source of information and guidance for growing our program offering as we expanded our online programs. I would highly recommend Michael to any school administrator or owner who is looking to tighten their operations and, at the same time, expand student programming.

got to know Mike when he came to inspect my school in Toronto. We had some work to do… I was new to the role and appreciated the guidance that he provided for us. His recommendations were clear and showed a path for us to improve our school. He remained a source for knowledgeable, reliable information regarding questions about school policy, ministry regulations or teaching practice. His interactions with staff were always cordial and respectful, even when difficult messages had to be delivered. I would most certainly rely on him in the future for direction regarding any aspect of school improvement.
